Must See in Tucson: Drive Up the Scenic Catalina Highway

November 15, 2020September 20, 2020 by Nicole

The Catalina Highway is a 28-mile road that begins at Mt. Lemmon’s base on Tucson’s north side. The base starts at around 3,000 feet in elevation and ends at the top of Mt. Lemmon at around 9200 feet. It’s our favorite thing to do when people who’ve never been to …

Look west out the window when traveling down I-19 in Tucson, and you’re likely to see the “white dove of the desert,” historic Spanish Mission San Xavier del Bac. Situated on the Tohono O’odham Nation San Xavier Indian Reservation, the mission is an active Roman Catholic Parish. The oldest intact …

Fun and Free in Tucson: Ciénega Train Bridge

November 15, 2020August 19, 2020 by Nicole

Originally part of U.S. Route 80, a highway that once spanned Arizona’s length before the construction of Interstate 10, Ciénega Bridge is an open-spandrel train crossing erected in 1921. The oldest surviving bridge of its kind in Arizona, today it’s tucked behind I-10 on Marsh Station Road just east of …

Sights in Southern Arizona: Las Ciénegas National Conservation Area

November 15, 2020August 14, 2020 by Nicole

Down a stretch of highway not too far from Tucson’s streets with scenery more reminiscent of the Flint Hills in Kansas than what most expect to find in southern Arizona, there are 42,000 acres of natural grassland set aside for our enjoyment. Las Ciénegas National Conservation Area is near the …

Hi! We’re Nicole & Levi

man and woman in their 30s standing in front of a pink Jeep
We got tired of doing what we were "supposed" to do, sold our house, and moved into a motorhome to realize our dream of living in Tucson, Arizona.

We use our piece of the internet to share what we know about small space living. For us, that means the food, culture, and nature of the American southwest and everything we learn, see, and do.

Solstice moon. We saw the planetary conjunction but our equipment couldn\'t get a great photo. Guess we\'ll save up for a telescope. 🤣

Impromptu drive through Box Canyon Road # 62 in the Coronado National Forest today. We started off in Madera Canyon scouting camp sites and always wondered where this road went. Spoiler alert: it snakes through an awesome canyon with lots of views and wildlife. Then it dumps out on the east side of the Santa Rita mountains with open grasslands before leading you to highway 83 just north of the border patrol checkpoint. Highly recommend!
